To the right of the handle is a crown atop the "E R VII" cypher and coronation year "1902" of Edward VII. To the left of the handle is the Town of Sutton Coldfield's "logo" whose people were celebrating this event. (*) On the rim, just above the handle, is a small chip that does not detract from the mug. The uniqueness of the mug is seen when holding the cup to a light where the image of the King can be seen at the bottom of the mug. This gives the meaning of being a lithophane mug.
