Description: This is a beautiful oversized card promoting the one-night Concert Performance of the ALFRED UHRY and JASON ROBERT BROWN musical "PARADE" at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City on February 16th, 2015. (The Original Broadway production opened December 17th, 1998 at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center in New York City and ran for 85 performances.) ..... Following the phenomenal success of "Ragtime" in 2013, and "Titanic" in 2014, Manhattan Concert Productions revived the Drama Desk and Tony Award-winning score of "PARADE" and brought it back to Lincoln Center where it all began in 1998. The concert performance of Parade starred JEREMY JORDAN as "Leo Frank" and LAURA BENANTI as his devoted wife and featured over 200 auditioned singers from across the U.S., a full professional Broadway Cast, and the enlarged forces of the New York City Chamber Orchestra. Composer JASON ROBERT BROWN was at the helm to direct the star-studded cast and full chorus as Music Director, joined by Olivier Award-nominee GARY GRIFFIN as Director. The musical dramatizes the 1913 trial of Jewish factory manager Leo Frank, who was accused and convicted of raping and murdering a thirteen year-old employee, Mary Phagan. The trial, sensationalized by the media, aroused some antisemitic tensions in Atlanta, Georgia. When Frank's death sentence was commuted to life in prison by the departing Governor of Georgia, John M. Slaton due to his detailed review of over 10,000 pages of testimony and possible problems with the trial, Leo Frank was transferred to a prison in Milledgeville, Georgia, where a lynching party seized and kidnapped him. Frank was taken to Phagan's hometown of Marietta, Georgia, where he was hanged from an oak tree. Both the author, ALFRED UHRY and the composer, JASON ROBERT BROWN were honored with 1999 Tony Awards for "Best Book of a Musical" and "Best Original Musical Score" respectively .....
