Description: This lovely Japanese 7 pcs sake set includes two Tokkuri flasks and 5 Choko Cups (徳利/猪口). It is an example of 有田焼き Aritayaki china made by 永峰作 Eihousaku. It is is a slightly translucent white with an iris design in pale blue. It was probably made in the 1960-70’s and comes unused in it’s original box. The Tokkuri flasks measures 5½” or 13cm high and the Choko Cups about 2½” or 6.5 cm across. The set is complete and in it’s original wooden box in flawlessly perfect condition. The term Arita ware (Arita-yaki) refers to porcelain made in the town of Arita in Saga Prefecture. In 1616 the Korean potter Ri Sanpei discovered the porcelain mineral kaolin at Mt. Izumiyama in Arita and for the first time porcelain could be made in Japan.
