It is a classic novel in which Jane Eyre, an orphan, becomes a tutor in an English manor. Jane falls in love with the master of the house, but as in all romances, it is not a simple matter. The novel is based on Charlotte's stay at a strict boarding school where two of her sisters died of tuberculosis. The Clergy Daughter's School at Cowan Bridge in Lancaster became Bronte's Lowood.
