Description: James King Bonnar (1883/85 - 1961) Oil on what appears to be Masonite, Signed Lower Right. Painting Measures ( 20 x 24 inches ); w/frame ( 24 x 30 inches ) New custom frame with colors that accent the painting nicely and a unique design too! Colors of the frame are an off gold with grey borders.A bright piece that does not need cleaning. In very good condition for the age. Should be seen in person! Active in the North Shore, Newton, and Rockport, Massachusetts art associations, James Bonnar was known for his murals in private homes and institutions as well as his autumn and winter harbor and marine paintings of Vermont and New Hampshire. He was born in North Adams, MA and lived in Newtonville, MA. Bonnar graduated from the Massachusetts School of Art where his teachers included Joseph DeCamp, and Ernest Major. He was the president of the Copley Society of Boston and the Business Men's Art Club of Boston and was a member of the Rockport and North Shore Art Associations. and was a member of the so-called Rockport school of artists along with Emile Gruppe, Aldro Hibbard and Anthony Thieme. Would look great hanging in a home regardless of what room! His pieces do bring in some high numbers as seen in the one of the images attached here. His artwork frequently sells in figures near $5k - so this is a really decent bargain on a piece that is ready to hang, doesn't need cleaning, has a new fancy well matched frame with wonderful accent colors!
