Hypericum uralum is a shrub in the Hypericaceae family. Its native range is northern Pakistan to northwest China. It grows naturally in thickets on grassy or rocky slopes at 5,500-11,800 feet. The flowers emerge from red flower buds opening to bright yellow flowers. It can grow to 3 feet tall and 1-2 feet wide. The leaves are small, around one inch, and tipped. The flowers bloom from June-July with prominent stamens followed by red-brown capsules full of seeds. It prefers to grow in full sun or part shade with average water needs. Zones 7-10 Germination Mix equal parts of potting soil, vermiculite, and peat moss. Spread seeds on top of the potting media. Press seeds down into the soil. Mist with a spray bottle. Uncover and mist as needed to keep the media moist. Cover the seed tray with clear plastic to maintain a 75F. Place under a bright light until germination.
