Description: Not for the weak wristed. While super comfortable in the hand, this is a heavy, man sized porro binocular intended for serious observation of stars, planets or other objects at set distances. This binocular is amazingly sharp, resolving group 1, element 6 of the USAF 1951 resolving power test target at a distance of 50 yards. The individually focusing eyepieces adjust smoothly and slowly, allowing for very fine adjustments in focus, bringing out the very best levels of sharpness in faint objects. However, this useful feature does not aid the user in tracking and focusing on birds. This activity is best served with a binocular with fast central focus. If backyard astronomy is your thing, this binocular is for you. The gentleman who sold me this unit had purchased it for astronomy but felt that he had to sell it after he had decided that a lighter unit with central focus would allow him to better track dynamic objects in the daylight. He also explained that the two dimples on the top of the unit were created when he left the Fujinon to rest upside down on some rough object. These should be visible in the pictures provided. Otherwise, I would rate this binocular as being in excellent condition, with no damage to glass and no fungus or flotsam inside. Feel free to write with any questions.
