It is recommended that you install the head vertically so that the cartridge (sold separately) hangs down, and to allow 2 1/2" of clearance below the filter cartridge for easy replacement. This filter head includes a built-in water shutoff valve, and all wetted parts have passed NSF extraction tests. It comes with a 3/8" female NPT inlet and outlet that run vertical.
