Description: FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION Just in time for the holiday. Selling my grandpas 1974 Raleigh bicycle, if I could keep this forever i would, but I am getting up there in age and want someone to enjoy this as much as my grandad did. He has passed 2 years now and i cannot keep everything to keep him namesake going, so I hope this goes to a good home. And I know this would make him happy to see someone else loving it as much as he did. He purchased this new while stationed in Europe, loved it so much that he shipped it back to the states when he returned. The color is absolutely beautiful, with its tint. There are a few scratches from transpot to the bike shows he went to, but it is not a hard color to match, the paint is truly remarkable after all these years. I had this brought to my local Raleigh dealer, and had them go through it to make sure all is working, check shifting braking etc. The tires have some sun age on them, and some wear, but they hold air and was ridden by him two years before in the historical society parade as done every year. He loved the gum wall tires and couldn't bring himself to have them changes. He despised rust, so there is extremely very little if any on the chrome. The original leather saddle is beautiful, and he would treat with saddle soap to keep soft. The bike still has the original lined wire casing that's in good shape, he had stored this always indoors in climate-controlled environment, and nonsmoking family. There is a registration sticker over the front emblem you may have to peel off to see the name Raleigh, but it's still there like new, the sticker was a requirement. Note, I have packed this bike with love, and the smallest shipping crate I can, to save the new purchaser as much on shipping as I can, i make nothing off of shipping!!!! The following was a printed piece he framed up on his wall i thought was interesting. These Are Real Bikes!!!!!Don't sneer at old 3-speeds. They are serious bikes, built for serious use. They are ment for utilitarian cyclists, and they are still extremely appropriate for riders who don't usually go more than a few miles at a time. They are particularly at home in stop-and-go traffic, because they can be shifted even while stopped. Their English heritage: full fenders, oil lubrication, and totally enclosed gear system makes them relatively impervious to wet conditions. They may be heavy, but that is not because they were built to be cheap, but because they were built to endure extremely rough usage and neglect. Properly cared for, they will outlast us all. Frame size------21"=====(53.34CM)Frame inseam measurement, from straddling the very top of the cross-tube bar to the flat of ground. ===30"Tire----26 x 1 3/8" This will make someone a very happy owner/collector and hope it goes to a good home, when these beautiful bikes are gone, there gone. PLEASE NOTE, SMALL MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE NEED TO ASSEMBLE, AND PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE WHEN IT COMES TO FENDERED BICYCLE, If DO NOT HAVE THESE TWO QUALITIES, PLEASE BRING IT TO YOUR LOCAL BICYCLE SHOP AND HAVE IT professionally assembled. (remember fender bikes take a little more time to assemble) THANKS FOR VIEWING MY ITEM, AND HAPPY EBAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
