These you cannot kill as they are very hardy. What leaves may fall off this year during planting, the tree will grow next year with its new heart shaped leaves. Mark the spot where you plant it. Every year I have new trees from the seeds of the largest tree I have shown in the last 2 pictures. Shown also in the 3rd to the last picture is a 5 year old tree. I usually tie and wrap or braid the bigger trees as they grow. These are very hardy in Michigan. Very nice pink flower buds in spring followed by the green heart shaped trees.
