Description: Early Antique Primitive Wooden Button Hole Tankard13" tall x 10" base x 8" top Nice old Maine barn findThis could tell some real cool stories. It may be from the revolutionary war years. My research tells me that its late 18th century or really early 19th century- referred to as a tavern noggin or ale tankard. The body is staved wood with lap joinery bands. As can be expected for its age the wood has shrunk a bit and is not tight so the tankard flexes a little but does not come apart.
