Description: Early 20th century English Folk Art Jigger DollA wonderful example of a unique folk-art hand-crafted jigger doll we have lovingly named Edwood. With its original stick and platform support made from an old, stamped apple crate panel. The jigger figure is hand carved using pine wood and brass detail. Naturally, faded paint and a deep patination give this item a super look and makes it highly collectible as a full articulated figure. Jig dolls are traditional wooden or tin-plate toys for adults or children. They are dolls with loose limbs that step dance or 'jig' on the end of a vibrating board or platform in imitation of a real step dancer. In London they were frequently operated by street entertainers or busker.Note: this item does not stand alone.
