Penciled dates to postcard and title page, book in fine condition, envelope very lightly worn. This is a lovely copy of volume 3 in editor Richard Frank's "Bizarre Series," published in Millheim, Pennsylvania in 1940. Per a promotional postcard laid in, the series "takes pride in presenting a new, original story by this noted master of fantastic fiction," Eando Binder, "creator of the two most famous characters in science fiction - Adam Link and Anton York - and in this new, thrilling, tale he uses all of the word witchery for which he is noted." The booklet was printed in a "private, limited-edition, on the same high-grade antique bookpaper so popular among fantasy fans." It instructed its addressee, Mr. E.W. Fitz of Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Chicago, to "send your quarter" for the book, and Fitz clearly obliged. The original mailing envelope containing the booklet, addressed to Fitz, is also present.Eando Binder was the pen name used by science fiction authors Earl Andrew Binder (1904-1966) and his brother Otto Binder (1911-1974). The name was derived from their first initials (E and O Binder). Their first Adam Link story, published in 1939, was titled "I, Robot". Under his own name, Otto wrote for the Captain Marvel line of comic books published by Fawcett Comics (1941-1953) and the Superman line for Detective Comics (1948-1969), and is credited with writing over 4,400 stories. The pen name Eando Binder is credited with over 160 comic book stories. All we were able to learn about E.W. Fitz came from "The American Oxonian: The Official Magazine of the Alumni Association of American Rhodes Scholars," which revealed he was Class of 1911, " Wyoming and Wadham" and had "forsaken the peaceful purlieus of Philadelphia for the more dangerous environment of Chicago. He is still single, works for Sears Roebuck, and recently realized a life's ambition when he broke 80 twice in one day".OCLC shows 12 holdings of this limited edition pressing. Near Fine / None.
