Description: Drosera filiformis tracyii This form of the threadleaf sundew, endemic to the Southeastern United States, is a vigorous, clumping form that produces masses of bulbs each year. Long 16-inch sundew leaves unfurl from each bulb in the early spring and are constantly replaced by new leaves as the season progresses. As with all sundews, this form glistens in the morning sunlight, covered with an inviting glue designed to lure and trap unsuspecting insects. Sundews grow in nutrient-poor environments that have caused the plant to develop a mechanism to trap small flying insects, digesting the bugs for the nitrogen in their bodies. Drosera filiformis tracyii is one of the tallest in the threadleaf sundew family, with leaves reaching close to 16 and 18 inches in height. The plant requires a moist growing medium comprised of peat moss and horticultural sand. If the sand is not available in your area, peat moss will suffice. You may also add perlite to the soil if you choose. Never use any growing medium that contains fertilizer. Water with rain, RO water, or distilled water. Never use city tapwater as it contains too many dissolved solids and chemicals that will harm the plant. This BUY-IT-NOW offer will include 30 FRESH seeds from the plants in our collection that were gathered this year. The seeds will be packaged in wax paper and shipped in a padded envelope for safety. Please Note: These seeds are very small and will appear as small black grains. Sprinkle these seeds on the surface of your growing medium and keep them wet and in a sunny area. More detailed instructions will be included with each purchase. Enjoy!!
