Description: Dept 56 How The Grinch Stole Christmas "CINDY LOU WHO'S HOUSE" 56.59004 Original Artist Sample Extremely rare Artist's sample prototype set of 4. Includes light, 2 trees, Cindy Lou Who & Max accessory (Also signed by artist) all carefully packed in it's Styrofoam box.This does not include the Grinch accessory found in the Retail Production set. This Comes in it's original factory sample hand made foam sample box with no sleeve. This rare artist sample version was a prototype and differs from the subsequent Retail production piece in several ways:Most notably, the building color is a light tan vs. bright yellow.The building has small indentations patterned on the perimeters whereas the production piece is smooth. The artist used a different type of bead than the production version and it doesn't have holes in the porcelain for the light to shine through them like the retail version. Also, the bottom differs from Retail production and is signed by the Artist and Creator of the How the Grinch Stole Christmas Village; Artist wrote "Repaint 5-19-2000" and "Not Final". There is no bottom stamp name or Seuss TM vs. the production versions which have the trademark stamp. Building and accessories are in excellent condition. The Large tree has a small light tan spot on the base where the Artist missed painting the white snow so the tan resin underneath shows (see photo of trees). Original Factory handmade Styrofoam box has some dents, scratches, and wear but protects the house and accessories well. Lid is taped down and sides are taped to further reinforce the box. This will be professionally packed in a box and shipped quickly with full insurance included for a completely worry free purchase.
