In gift, or collector-grade, condition. • DISCUSSION: Authentic Italian, Murano art glass duck figurine made by one of the premier glass furnaces on the island of Murano, Italy. Decorated with a layer of pure metallic gold flakes(aventurine) finally covered by a layer of clear glass. It's a gorgeous piece! Shown in both warm and cool lighting to present a wide range of appearances. The pontil/base is flat and shows the expected shelf wear consistent with its age. It's even more beautiful in person! Though it lost its label, it's made in the style of the artists of Gambaro & Poggi, c. mid-1970s, and confidently attributed to their furnace. FULL CONDITION REPORT: We thoroughly inspected this piece and found no cracks, chips, nicks, scuffs, flea bites, flakes, hairlines, notable scratches, or repairs with no evidence of grinding or restoration. Any natural indentations, bubbles, tool marks, and/or any other natural textural features are all original to this piece and normal for hand-blown glass. Wear to the base is consistent with age. Pontil scar artifacts, usually on base (looks like a divot), are the remains of the normal scar and are recognized by collectors to not be damaged. The two brothers-in-law – Mario is married to Bruno’s sister – were born and grew up in Murano. As for all previous and present glass masters, their training was working with some of the most famous glass artists – in their case Archimede Seguso and Alfredo Barbini – or at some of the most important glass companies, such as Seguso Vetri d’Arte, Vincenzo Nason and Barovier & Toso.
