Description: This listing is for a new Corgi M4A3 Sherman Medium Tank US Army, Normandy, France, D-Day, June 6th 1944 die-cast model. This model was released in Spring 2004 with only 4,500 pieces distributed world wide. The model in the pictures belongs to my collection. For sale model is new in box. Outer box has some shelves ware. This is the message that one of my buyer sent to me regarding this particular tank "My uncle Paul drove that tank or #9 on D Day and made it through the battle." Scale: 1/50 Length: 4.5" Width: 2.25" The Sherman from Company A landed at H-Hour (0630) on the Easy Red Sector of Omaha Beach. This particular tank was used during the D-Day invasion and is equipped with specially designed exhaust vents so it could ford beaches. The markings on these tanks were very simple, with no white stars or bumper identification. Only the tank name beginning in the company letter, the serial numbers and stenciled data plate with shipping information were visible. Some of the tanks had their vehicle numbers painted on the upper and lower portion of the deep wading trunk. It is known that Tanks 9 and 10 made it ashore. M4A3 Sherman The pilot model of the M4 was completed in September 1941, and the Sherman became the most widely produced tank of the war. The M4 Sherman defeated heavier tanks with superior numbers, and by using outflanking tactics to strike thinner enemy flank armor. Sherman also achieved success with progressively up-gunned models and by working with tank destroyers. The Sherman tank--named by the British--was fast, maneuverable, mechanically reliable, easy to manufacture, and effective in its infantry support role. It served with the US Army and Marines during World War II, and the US transferred large numbers to the United Kingdom and allied forces of many countries.
