CLA'd Serviced Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Summar 5cm (50mm) f/2 LTM M39 L39 Leica

Description: Selling off more of my collection. ==== Ernst Leitz Summar 5cm f2 lens. I serviced this lens in 2023 when I bought it to go with the IIIb I'm also selling. The serial number puts it around 1937 from online research. The original black paint around the elements was effectively gone, so I replaced it with high quality matte black India ink. Haze was also present, but it was removed. I additionally removed (to the best of my ability) the oxidation and corrosion which was present on the aperture blades; aperture adjustment was originally very gritty, but now it is smooth. Price does reflect these issues, even with the servicing. ---- Body condition: heavy wear present overall. You can tell this lens has seen a lot of use. Front element: air bubbles present. There are also unfortunately many cleaning marks due to this element being notoriously soft (as in made from soft glass). Rear element: relatively clear for its age. May require additional cleaning before shipping. Middle elements: Schneideritis (paint loss) is still present, but significantly better than when I bought the lens. Air bubbles are present. No fungus or separation is present in the lens. Iris: clean and clear. Some areas of wear and evidence of prior corrosion are present. Aperture adjustment: exceptionally smooth.
