Description: For sale is a very nice vintage Chelsea radio room clock in very good, working condition. Bakelite case, brass face showing the two red 15 second 'radio silence' markings required after the sinking of the Titanic, so sailors could listen for distress signals. Face does show signs of tarnishing (after 79 years)! Hands and sweep second hand are good. There is no key. The clock does come with a certificate of origin, ordered from the Chelsea factory. NOTE: certificate does show my name :/ It was manufactured in 1943. Serial number is scratched into the back of the case as was the SOP back then so sailors didn't have to disassemble the clock to get the number. Internal number does match! Other various nicks, scratches, scrapes, etc. can be seen on the case, BUT, this clock could have definitely seen service on a Victory ship in WWII. Unfortunately I can't confirm that. I can confidently say though that this is a true piece of history! I'm gonna miss hearing her tick! Thanks for looking!
