Full details below This listing is for packets of Carolina Reaper Pepper seeds. Choose from packets of 25 or 50 seeds. The Carolina Reaper is currently the hottest stable pepper variety available in the world! These peppers can reach 2,200,000 Scoville heat units! That is more than double the heat units in the hottest Ghost peppers! These bushy plants produce good yields of the often wrinkled, red peppers with the characteristic tail. We do occasionally see other shapes with no tail or longer like a Ghost pepper, but all are hotter than anything else we have ever grown. These peppers will make any dish into fire! You have been warned! These seeds were harvested by us from our own organically grown Carolina Reaper peppers picked during the 2024 growing season on our family farm, Sweetwater Farms, in Chapmansboro, TN. They are intended for the 2025 growing season, but pepper seeds can be stored up to 7 years and still germinate well. All of our seeds are air-dried, and stored in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment to ensure quality germination rates. We recommend wearing gloves when handling Reaper seeds as they can be quite hot by themselves and easily cause irritation to any area of the body they touch. Keep them far from your eyes. We learned the hard way. We specialize in pepper production and can assure you these seeds produce top-quality peppers with some major FLAME! GERMINATIONSuper hot pepper seeds can be difficult to germinate compared to most other peppers and vegetables. They will take longer to germinate so be patient. These seeds require both warmth and light to germinate. We achieve our best germination rate using a grow light and heating pad. Our seed trials over the last five years have consistently produced an 80% or greater germination rate using these techniques, which is higher than the seed industry standard of around 60% germination rate for this variety. Seed trials for the 2025 batch are currently underway. Planting these seeds in a sunny window will likely NOT result in that high of a germination rate, but can get you sprouts. Plant the seeds very shallow in a typical seed-growing medium. They only need a slight covering of soil as the seeds must be shallow enough to receive light exposure. Without light, they will not sprout. Keep soil moist, but not so wet as to get the seeds soggy. The seeds typically sprout 4-8 weeks after planting. We see most of our peppers sprout in weeks 4 and 5 after planting. If you don't see any peppers after 5-6 weeks, stir the top of the soil lightly as this will expose seeds to light that may have been planted a bit too deep. Indoor sowing is a must with these seeds. We start our seeds at least 8 weeks prior to moving them outdoors, 10-12 weeks is preferred. These peppers do not like cool nights below 60-65 degrees. We move our plants outdoors here in Tennessee around the end of May once night temperatures are higher. They transplant quite easily. Direct sowing is not recommended as germination rate tends to be lower. Direct sowing requires waiting for a higher soil temperature. Planting later will yield peppers later in the season so be mindful of that if you live in an area with a shorter growing season. The photos above are of our actual peppers that produced these seeds.
