Description: The Cape Verde 100 Escudos was issued on July 1, 1997 by the Bank of Cape Verde in celebration of its first anniversary, replacing the Portuguese escudo. On the obverse of the note is a portrait of Amilcar Cabral who was a Cape Verdean anti-colonial leader. The obverse also shows a bow and a stringed cimboa musical instrument, the Coat of Arms of Cape Verde, and a pano cloth pattern. The reverse depicts Mount Cano, which is a Fogo volcano, and coffee berries on branches. The 137 x 68 mm paper bill has a solid security thread and a watermark that reflects Amilcar Cabral. This particular Cape Verde 100 Escudos is in uncirculated condition.
