Description: CAMCO (CAMILLUS) Camping Pocketknife, Vintage Survivor: Not a trailer queen; this knife has been a "user" tool in its life, but not abused. Blades are in good shape (not excessively sharpened), brass frame, nickel-steel bolsters and all pins are in good condition, square and solid. Springs are intact and give the blades good walk and satisfying talk. Oil has been applied appropriately over the years to the joints, and may be responsible for the shrinkage of the handles. "Composite", as the handle material is called, is a cheap and easily-workable material that was popular among cutleries, but was not a very stable material. It was used in lower priced knives from the 1930s to about the 1950s when plastics and phenolytes (Bakelite) became economical for general usage. A previous owner stabilized the handle slabs by filling the edges with epoxy. Buy this knife for its historical significance or its utility condition; you'll learn to respect its survivor status.
