Normal 0 Astronaut Edwin E. Aldrin Jr., lunar module pilot, moves toward a position to deploy two components of the Early Apollo Scientific Experiments Package (EASEP) on the surface of the Moon during the Apollo 11 extravehicular activity. The Passive Seismic Experiments Package (PSEP) is in his left hand; and in his right hand is the Laser Ranging Retro-Reflector (LR3). Astronaut Neil A. Armstrong, commander, took this photograph with a 70mm lunar surface camera. This photo also includes the US Postage stamp C76 of the first man on the moon and was HAND CANCELLED in Washington DC on September 9, 1969 which was the first day of issue for the stamp. The cancellation also includes the Moon Landing cancellation from July 20, 1969. The only way you could have this stamp cancelled this way was to be physically present in Washington, DC on September 9, 1969, which my father was. This picture is a great decorative item for the aeronautics and space enthusiast. It is also an excellent historical memento of Apollo 11 and the first manned lunar landing that involved astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E.
