So achieve a flamboyant, yet classic look with this Bulova ’Sea King’ watch incorporated into your wardrobe. DETAILS: Case: ’Sea King’ model. Very eye-catching and highly distinctive. The round case has four chamfered edges to the sides and an interesting textile textured effect to the top of the bezel. Original and signed ‘BULOVA’ on the back. The 10kt gold electro plated bezel and stainless steel case back have been cleaned & repolished and fitted with a new acrylic crystal. In general, the case is showing wear/scratches commensurate with the age of the watch. Crown: New, newly acquired ‘Bulova’ stock. Excellent. Dial: Immaculate, complementing the distinctiveness of the 10kt gold plated case, the two-tone dial is in its original condition. The quarter hour positions are marked numeral batons whilst the remaining hour positions are slender rectangular ridged batons. These along with the ‘Bulova’ name are gilt and raised on the dial. ’23 Jewels, ‘Automatic’ and the minute chapter are in black. There is a calendar window at the three o’clock position. The hour positions along with the hands have not been relumed as they still glow well in the dark. Hands: Hour, minute and sweep second hands are original, gilt, pitched ‘Dauphine’ style. Movement: BULOVA Swiss manual & self-winding movement. This is a fine classic 10CPACD calibre with 23 jewels marked ‘’M9’ for 1969. The movement allows for both manual and self-winding. It is designed to prevent over-winding. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted and at the time of listing is running well keeping good time ready to wear. As with all vintage watches regular servicing is recommended. Size: Round, measures approx. 32.39mm in diameter. Approx. 38.48mm lug to lug. Band: A new 18mm black leather band with gold tone buckle has been fitted complementing the timepiece perfectly. Box: This watch comes with its distinctive original hard case presentation box which is remarkable to have survived the years together. The octagonal shaped box is made from a lightly textured white plastic. The lid has a cream coloured padded and textured finish with a gilded edging. In the center is a metal foil emblem ‘Excellence Collection by Bulova’ with the letter ‘B’ taking center stage. The background is brown whilst the lettering and border is in shiny gold tone. The sprung lid opens as it should to reveal a classically retro interior which is themed with orange coloured silk. On the underside of the lid there is the Bulova name in bold gold tone lettering. The watch is located on a removable orange silk mount. Interestingly the Bulova name plate is still present. The lower tray can be lifted out. ________________________________________________________________________________ General comments: This is an impressive and highly desirable example of a Bulova ’Sea King’ automatic watch from 1970 with original presentaion box. The watch has been restored to appeal once again. The repolished case, with eye-catching original silver tone dial with date make the watch highly attractive and very noticeable indeed. The watch has a pleasing ‘retro’ look and feel that simply cannot be found in newer more contemporary designs.
