These compact HF Transmit/receive filters, accomplish out-of-band suppression, that effectively eliminates noise and interfering signals. Simply place the filter in-line between transceiver, antenna or an amplifier. VSWR is a reality that we have to be attentive to; and Tactical radio gear, has made every effort, to protect the filter components from these potentially damaging forces. The weak-link in most Bandpass filters; at these power levels, in a high VSWR condition, are the capacitors? Silver Mica capacitors are ideal for use where multilayer ceramic caps are not recommended because of cracking. We recommend that 5% 500V SM capacitors be used exclusively. The natural mica dielectric retains its extremely high-Q to many megahertz; and is free from thermal cracking. Silver Mica capacitors are Ideal for tuned L/C Circuits & High RF current. Unlike NPO ceramic capacitors, these capacitors are rock stable. All the inductors are wound on T-60-2 powder iron cores, with 18ga wire. Not withstanding the robust design, operator(s) should endeavor to maintain a minimum VSWR when using these filters. BPF-100W model filters, are designed for use with 100W PEP transceivers. Note: The BPF-100W filter(s) can be operated @ a 100% duty cycle. SSB speech (50% duty), CW average power is roughly equivalent to speech. WARNING: The BPF-100W is designed to be connected, between the radio and amplifier. If the filter is installed on the output of an amplifier, the filter will be destroyed almost instantly. The Universal PCB/Kit comes with complete instructions for constructing a Band Pass filter for any of the following bands: 160m/80m/40m/30m/20m/17m/15m/12m/10m/6m. The component values for each band, are provided in the instructions. Since the PCB is a universal layout, it will work for any of the bands. Purchase more than one kit for your favorite band(s). The capacitors provide in the kit are 500V Silver Mic caps. Inductors can be air-wound solenoid types, toroid cores are provided in each kit. The PCB is high-quality FR4 material, with 2oz copper on both ground planes. Two mounting holes are provided on each end. The instructions contain lots of pictures to assist in the assembly. The circuit uses 3 different capacitor values, and 3 inductors of the same value. Everything needed for a complete Band Pass filter is included in the Kit. The same PCB is available as a bare board.
