Programming Instructions: TRANSMITTER CODE LEARNING All AutoStart transmitters do not come pre- programmed. They must be "CODE LEARNED" at the time of installation. The unit will hold up to 4 transmitter codes in memory. To program a new transmitter: METHOD #1: 1. Press and hold the hood-pin for 4 seconds What is a hood-pin? A hood-pin is a switch which indicates whether the hood of a vehicle is open or closed. Some brands of car alarms and/or remote starters (Autostart, Astrostart etc.) require a working hood-pin in order to access key fob programming and/or feature programming. How does a hood pin work? A hood pin is a common plunger style pin switch that switches a chassis ground (-) output when the plunger is in the up (electrically closed/hood open) position. The chassis ground (-) output goes away when the plunger is in the down (electrically open/hood closed) position. Common problems with hood pins Hood pins are prone to many problems, mostly tied back to the environment they are installed in (under the hood near the hot engine, exposed to water, dirt, road salt, and other contaminants). Hood pins are also prone to breakage, especially by mechanics who slam the hood down on them, leading them to bend and break. Rust and dirt are the other leading causes of non working hood pins. Always inspect the hood pin, if you see rust or dirt on the electrode (the spot where the wire plugs into the pin) then it is more than likely not working, The rust and dirt need to be cleaned off, or the hood pin needs to be replaced. 2. Release the hood-pin (the parking lights will turn on) What are parking lights? Parking lights are the lights on your vehicle that illuminate on the first turn of the head light switch. In the front of your vehicle they generally illuminate in amber, in the rear of your vehicle they will illuminate your tail lights in red. Parking lights will be illuminated by default when the head lights are activated, or when auto lights are activated. In many vehicles (mainly older models), when your head light switch is in the parking light position, the instrument cluster and dash board lights will also illuminate in the interior as well. *NOTE: Newer model vehicles may activate instrument cluster and dash lights with engine on/ignition* While the parking lights are on, press the hood-pin once more and release immediatelyThe parking lights will now stay on for up to 20 secondsBefore the parking lights go out, turn the ignition key ON (RUN Position) and immediately to the OFF position Press and HOLD the LOCK button of the key fob you are trying to program and keep it held down until the parking lights flash 5 times quickly (may be followed by 2 slow flashes, not all the time though)The key fob has now been stored to memory If you have additional key fobs to program, repeat step 5 and 6 at this time. *Systems can hold a maximum of 4 remotes METHOD #2 1. Raise the Hood. 2. Turn Valet switch "OFF". 3. Turn Ignition "ON". 4. Turn Valet switch "ON". (Parking lights SHOULD turn ON for 5 seconds) 5. Press LOCK on transmitter within 5 seconds of step 4. (Parking lights will flash 5 times fast, and 2 times slow) 6. Turn Ignition OFF and close the Hood. NOTE: STOP button on 1205 has NO function Why does your vehicles installed RKE / Security system determine which remote control your can purchase? The remotes job is to pair with your vehicles installed RKE system. It will only sync to a matching system; therefore, you cannot purchase a different type of remote than the remote manufactured with the system. It will not pair with a foreign system. Programming: We will send you information on how to locate programming requirement/instructions for your make, model, and year vehicle. Some vehicles have DIY (do-it-yourself) programming instructions available. While other vehicles require diagnostic programming which is available at your local qualified automotive locksmith or dealer. Programming Requirement Information NOTE: The vehicle manufacturers determine the programming requirements at the time of manufacture. We pass the programming requirements / instructions on to you as a courtesy. We do not write the programming nor do we determine which vehicles require diagnostic programming and which vehicles can be programmed by the you (DIY). We are not locksmiths nor mechanics nor are we familiar with EVERY vehicles program sequence. If you have questions: 1. Check your Vehicle Owners Manual for OEM Factory remotes or The User Manual for Dealer Installed or Aftermarket RKE systems. 2. YouTube has many video postings from do-it-yourselfers to assist with all kinds of questions & most customers find if very helpful to WATCH the programming being done which can eliminate mistakes in the sequence. To locate the programming for your vehicle via this method go to YouTube and once there in the search bar type in the following: i. If you have a factory RKE system: your make model year + the words program remote (i.e.: 2005 Ford Mustang program remote) ii. If you have a dealer installed or aftermarket RKE system: the FCC ID or system type + the words program remote (i.e.: ELVAT5C program remote or AS200 program transmitter?) 3. For OEM FACTORY installed systems: send us an eBay message with your vehicles make, model & year = we can pass on to you any programming information requirements we have on hand. 4. For DEALER INSTALLED RKE installed systems: send us an eBay message with your remote controls FCC ID # and PART# and the vehicles make, model, & year = we can pass on to you any programming information requirements we have on hand (the programming for dealer installed RKE systems will be different than Factory or Aftermarket installed RKE systems). 5. For AFTERMARKET INSTALLED RKE installed systems: send us an eBay message with your remote controls FCC ID # and PART# = we can pass on to you any programming information requirements we have on hand (the programming for aftermarket installed RKE systems will be different than Factory or Dealer installed RKE systems). 6. There are also many auto forums that you can go onto by just conducting a google search with your questions. 7. or a local automotive locksmith or your local parts/car/audio store will typically be able to assist you if you are trying to avoid the dealer.
