Description: The artist Jacques Louis Bonnet was born and practiced in Belgium. His subjects consisted mainly of portraits and realistic still life studies. This well composed still life features freshly cut flowers arranged in a wooden vase. A diagonal soft light highlights the blooms and draws the subjects out of the dark background. Fine brushwork details the characteristics and colors of the different types of flowers. The panel measures 8 ½” (23cm) by 11 ½” (28cm) to sight and 16”(41cm) by 14”( 35.5cm) in a solid giltwood frame. The paint surface is in a very good and stable condition. The artist signed the work on the lower right corner.
