Wood frame with leather expansion material, cast iron foot pedal, and metal blow pipe. Top bladder is missing. Numbers 13/596/3/03 are a production date code.Used primarily with a blow pipe or melting furnace, foot bellows were offered in 19th C. catalogs of Buffalo Dental Co. as "Fletcher's foot bellows". A rubber bladder on top of the bellows served to equalize the pressure between strokes. It was contained in a net to prevent overinflation.
