Description: Interesting Antique Model 1866 French Style Chassepot Bayonet, but with German WKC marking on ricasso standing for maker Weyersburg Kirshbaum & Co. Solingen. Opposite side is stamped with a cartouche, Blade is very good with a brown silver patina on it. This was converted from a bayonet to a short sword? Done quite well, wood handle is set very well with no looseness on it at all. This measures 28.5" overall with a blade length of 22.75". An interesting piece that warrants further research.
