Description: Interesting Antique Model 1866 French Style Chassepot Bayonet, but with German AC Scale marking on ricasso standing for maker Alex Coppel, opposite side is stamped with a cartouche, one also on the bottom of blade spine hilt. Blade shows a brown age patina with original finish mixed in. This was converted from a bayonet to a short sword. Done quite well, wood handle is set very well with no looseness on it at all. This measures 29" overall with a blade length of 22.75". An interesting piece that warrants further research. See photos.
