Description: This piece is available by LOCAL PICKUP ONLY in Philadelphia, PA. This listing is for a circa late 1800s to early 1900s antique Victorian European tin travel trunk. This trunk is a rarity to find in the U.S. as this style steamer trunk originated in England so it's assumed to have come from Immigrants from abroad that may have migrated to the States. This large trunk has a flat top with raised metal stud or "button" detailing on the top and sides. There are metal D-handles on each side for easy movement/carrying. This piece has a rusted, patina finish with so much character and old world charm. The inside of the trunk is painted a flat brick red color with some scratch marks in the interior and the bottom is painted in a black color that shows signs of wear. There is a tarnished, polished brass latch and lock plate. The hardware latches but doesn't lock as it's missing the key. The hardware reads "Machine Made Lever With Modern Improvements", the back of the latch seems to have 4 numbers imprinted, I'm guessing it's a serial number or name, however, it's unclear due to the age. It possibly reads, "WOOD." The trunk is in great antique condition and possesses all of its original elements. It has been cleaned and is ready for use. It's perfect for industrial or farmhouse décor and is a 2-for-1 piece of furniture- it's large enough for use as a coffee table and as storage. MEASUREMENTS: 27"L x 18"W x 18"H, inside storage is 14"D
