The adapter/water bottle is height adjustable for growing pets (moves from 4 inches to 14 inches off the floor). Works well for litters and raise the adapter as they grow taller. We are proud to have helped animal orphanages around the world. Fill the clear bottle, attach the mint green adapter, snap in white clip on top area of adapter and place unit in stand slowly. Take the mint green knob and screw into the white clip from outside of stand and slowly raise into place to the desired height for your pet and tighten. To refill just unscrew the knob and lift the water bottle out of the stand. ***Remember: Place adapter at nose height, when the mechanism is licked the water flows onto the tongue and quenches your pets thirst. (Suggestions to train your pet: apply small amount of peanut butter or soft food around the outside of the metal mechanism to entice your pet, always show your pet by placing their mouth at mechanism and allow water to drip out when touched or use your finger by pressing in on the mechanism to show your pet.) We cannot control sloppy drinkers, please do not allow your pet to chew or play with the adapter/mechanism. This adapter/mechanism is the best on the market today that fits into our stand, but once in a great while we get a mechanism that drips without being licked. Push in on the mechanism once in a while and see if it resets itself. Never use any chemicals to clean the mechanism or it will stop working. We recommend the "Pet Water Bottle Stand" if you are not looking for a flexible raise and lower stand. Importance comment: Adapters that have a magnet mechanism work well for no drips BUT, the pet is discouraged easily from drinking from magnet adapter mechanisms because the flow of water is much less because the pet has to work hard to push in on the mechanism with their tongue to get the water to flow, then the pet gets dehydrated.
