Description: This listing is for drive gear #5126 for classic ABU Ambassadeur reels. Years ago, this batch was made by ABU for a custom order for Simon Shimomura. Without this part, your classic Ambassadeur may not work properly. Application of this part is spread in wide range from 5000 5000A, 5000B, 5000C, 5000De Luxe, 6000, 6000C models. The difference between #5126, and another drive gear #7072 for above models is the location of the clicker plate inside the drive gear.I do not admire the development of 5000 model reel in many ways. This is one of them. This earlier version of the drive gear has a drag washer closer to the core (center). That is the reason why you cannot tighten drag enough. That is a rule of leverage!In 1960's ABU noticed (Maybe because of claims that the spool kept moving no matter how you tighten the drag (by turning the starwheel) and changed the location of the drag washer toward outside. Drag washer was also replaced at the same time. If you are fixing older type of above models, and have a drag washer closer to the center of the drive gear, you need this gear.
