ABINGDON POTTERY (IL 1934-50) #337 (1935)

Description: Abingdon Pottery in Illinois made many different vases, figurines, and kitchen items 1934-1950. They made a few pieces of dinnerware in their second year of art pottery production, 1935, including the #337 Square Dessert Dish. This wasn't a product line they continued after 1935 and the few shapes made are hard to find. Examples of this shape can be seen on page 65 of the 1997 book "Abingdon Pottery Artware" by Joe Paradis - although it is called "desert" dish in error in the book. The square foot of the dish is about 3-3/8 inches square and the sides flare out for to the top rim that is about 5 inches square. It sits about 1-3/4 inches off the table. The bottom has the crisp white clay typical of Abingdon pottery but no mark or shape number - that is not unusual for these early pieces that often had an ink-stamp or a foil label that could be washed off. The dish is in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing. This is a duplicate from my own collection and time to move it on to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have.Ships USPS.Please look for other Abingdon Pottery pieces in my ebay store listings!
