Description: A British 19th Century Officer's Sword to the 10th (Prince of Wales's Own) Regiment of Light Dragoons Hussars, 89 cm slightly curved blade by maker Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London, no serial number, is very early production, sides of the blade with Prince of Wales feathers and 10 Hussars Regimental badge with two Battle Honors, "Peninsula" and "Waterloo", the reverse with VR crown and Royal X Hussars, etched with scrolling foliage, foliate and ladder pierced steel hilt applied with brass domed rivets and three brass leopards heads (Shropshire Yeomanry), wire bound fishskin grip, leather liner. Supposedly an Officer serves in the 10th Hussars Cavalry. He then resigns from the regiment and goes home to Shropshire. In Shropshire he is welcomed into his local volunteer cavalry regiment, the Shropshire Yeomanry Cavalry, because of his experience in the regular army. He must have the regulation pattern sword hilt of the Shropshire Yeomanry Cavalry, but he uses the blade of the sword from his first regiment.
