Description: Vintage 1940's MCM Edwin M. Knowles Semi-Vitreous KNO10 Dinnerware. Pattern Description: Ivory Background, Arcadia Shape, Scalloped, Gold Leaf And Ribbon, Gold Trim. Made in the U.S.A. Discontinued. This Pattern was active from 1946 to an unknown end date. Many of these pieces are marked with dates of 1948. See photos. Condition: Excellent 75 year old condition. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs. The gold trim shows very little wear and utensil marks and shelf wear. Most pieces do not show any crazing. See photos. Company History: Edwin M. Knowles started his pottery company in Chester, West Virginia in 1900. He later expanded into Newell, WV in 1913. Both locations made Knowles dinnerware until the early 1930s when Harker took over production at the Chester plant. The Newell plant continued to make dinnerware until 1963.
