Description: 3 Paw Paw Trees - 6-12" Tall Live Plants - Indian Banana Trees - Asimina triloba The largest edible fruit native to the United States. Related to the cherimoya, soursop and custard-apple, it is the only member of the Annonaceae family found outside of the tropics. Often called "poor man's banana", they have a custard like consistency and a flavor often described as a mix of banana, mango, and cantaloupe. The bark, leaves and seeds show marked anti-cancer activity in studies. We sell first year seedlings in 3.5" pots. They will flower and bear fruit in 4 to 6 years. They are self pollinating but planting 2 or more will increase fruit production. They prefer a deep rich soil. Commonly found as an understory tree, flowering and fruit production are better in full sun. Host plant for the zebra swallowtail butterfly. Shipped dormant November - March.
