Description: Josef Albers: The American Years. Exhibition catalog showing a selection of Albers' work done after he moved to America, starting in 1933. The show ran from October-December, 1965, at the Washington Gallery of Modern Art in Washington, DC, before traveling to New Orleans, San Francisco, UCSB and Brandeis. Includes 3 color screenprints reproducing paintings, including those from the Homage to the Square and Variants series. The prints were done by Albers' longtime printer Sewell Sillman. They are tipped-in and printed on thick wove paper. The 3 color prints measure 4 x 8, 5.5 x 7.75 and 6.25 x 6.25 inches. The softcover book measures 8 x 10.5 inches. 48 pp. Introductory essay by Gerald Nordland. Catalog designed by Norman Ives. The prints themselves are in near fine condition - bright, clean and unmarked. Overall, the rest of the book is in good condition. Covers stained and scratched. There is a dampstain to the lower corner of the last 30 pages and the rear wrap, but it does not appear on any of the text or illustrations. Former owner's short gift inscription to first page.
