Description: Up for consideration are 3 very old and very nice Burmese opium weights. I got these 30-35 years ago while up in the Golden Triangle in Northern Thailand. The Burmese opium weights weighed all valuable substances. Opium, spices, jade. rubies, silver and gold. They are in the shape of the traditional Hintha bird. This was the emblem of the MON kingdom which ruled over lower Burma. Sometimes called Hansa. The steed of Brahma, who was the creator of the universe, protector of the world and the god of wisdom. The early Thai-Siamese kings and people were Mon-Khymer before the Tai people came down from the North. THese weights are in very good condition for their age. Great small art pieces and bygone historical times.
