Description: 2 Small PETERSON: (BARREL+ CALABASH) *N.MINT* (1970s-1980s) Estate Pipes + STAND Two very beautiful small Petersons : A mini calabash, perhaps the smallest Peterson in production -just 16gr!-, bowl size similar (at most) to Dunhill's Group 1. Very clear grains (combination of straight and birds eyes). Made some time in the 1970s as we conclude from the initial 'P' of the 'PETERSON'S' stamp, which has the Old Style lettering. "Later in the 1970s Peterson begun production of "commemorative" pipes, often referred to as "replica" or "retro" pipes and these will also have the old style lettering" [A Peterson Dating Guide, Pipedia] And a sitter, the BARREL, with bowl size similar to Dunhill's Group 2. Also lightweight (26 gr), clear grains, push mouthpiece, made some time in the 1980s. Both pipes have been smoked lightly and are in near mint condition. A small local blackening on the inner part of the calabash's rim is the pair's fault. Bonus a beautiful 2-position stand by RO-EL, which is in excellent condition. The calabash has approximate diagonal length 132 mm (5.20"), bowl height 40 mm (1.57"), chamber depth 32 mm (1.26"), chamber diameter 13 mm (0.51") and weighs 16 gr (0.56 oz). Shank marks : PETERSON'S [slightly arched], DUBLIN [slightly arched], MADE IN THE | REPUBLIC | OF IRELAND - Stem marks : P [calligraphic, on the side] The barrel has approximate length 149 mm (5.87"), bowl height 41 mm (1.61"), chamber depth 31 mm (1.22"), chamber diameter 16 mm (0.63") and weighs 26 gr (0.92 oz). Shank marks : Peterson's [script], BARREL, MADE IN THE | REPUBLIC | OF IRELAND Both pipes do not take filters and have original, vulcanite stems.
