Description: Wonderful antique Skinner & Company London shaped stick pin box with stick pin from my collection. The Lyre shaped stick pin is marked 15 CT and set with a red stone we believe is a Garnet with four flanking seed pearls. The “stick portion has a spiral notch mid way typical of jewelry from the 1870-1880s. It measures 2 1/2” L and weighs 1.3 grams. I would not count the weight of the stick portion as gold but as a rolled gold. The box appears to be covered with some kind of greyish green leather and embossed with gold on the outside top and inside on both top and bottom. Inside the upper lid is satin and a soft mint velveteen on the lower. Inside the lid the box is marked for Skinner & Co Diamond Merchants Orchard Street London W. This company had been in business since 1825. The company was Skinner & Co between 1850 & 1880. Measures 3 1/2” L x 1” W x 3/4” H. The box is in great condition but it is not 100% perfect. For being about 140-150 years old it is fantastic!!
