Description: Thanks for stopping by Americas Pastime ,LTD. sale for a 1989 UPPER DECK BOX HIGH SERIES FACTORY SEALED PACKS GRIFFEY JR READ DESCRIPTION- Discounted SHIPPING ******** UPDATE : It has come to my attention that the boxes i'm selling from this case of 1989 Upper Deck has a Collating Issue. To be transparent and upfront and honest as that is my #1 priority. The quality control issues are repeating cards in the box known as Collation. I have opened 2 boxes from this case. 1 box was repetitive with the same three players in each pack and all I pulled note-worthy was Dale Murphy, Bo Jackson, Don Mattingly, Nolan Ryan, Tony Gwynn and Gregg Jeffries RC. Pretty much everyone except Ken Griffey Jr RC and Randy Johnson RC. The 2nd box I opened from the same case was again repetitive with 2 or 3 repeating players in each pack but I pulled 2 Ken Griffey Jr. RC and Randy Johnson RC along with all the other 89' MLB Stars. So my thought process was that although the first two boxes had some weird stuff going on , it was still not enough problems for me to think there was a issue with the rest of the case. I had pulled 2 Ken Griffey Jr RC's and a Randy Johnson RC and those are the chase cards people want from this set, so im thinking ok all good. I was wrong. An E-Bayer who purchased from me gave me negative feedback about 1 week ago because they had a bad experience with the 89' Upper Deck box that they bought from me, that was my 1st negative feedback on E-Bay. And then another E-Bayer just wrote me and said they had a bad experience as well with the box of 89 Upper Deck they purchased and opened. Again the three same players were pulled and 4 Cal Ripken Jr cards in his box. This clearly is a quality control issue that was not handled by Upper Deck upon release back in 1989. After doing some research and talking to some experienced collectors in the Hobby it seams that mostly all 1989 Upper Deck High Series has this issue one way or another. Its just up to the seller to know their product and to inform you if they know, like I am doing. So if you are shopping for a Upper Deck 1989 High Series Box then the ones I have are most likely the same ones you will get from someone else on E-Bay who probably has no idea this issue exist or they know but they are not saying anything. And same goes for the Buyer. If you are not experienced in ripping 1989 Upper Deck High Series then "Yes" this looks like a serious issue. To the experienced 1989 Upper Deck High Series buyer then this is normal and expected to some extent. But you can still possibly get Ken Griffey Jr. RC and Randy Johnson RC and all the other players from the 89 Upper Deck set in the boxes I'm selling from this particular case. Who knows there could possibly be a Griffey Jr. RC hot box in this case. Please understand that NO REFUNDS will be offered on these boxes. Thanks and I hope this helps. Many sets have claimed to be game-changers. 1989 Upper Deck Baseball actually did change the card game.Boasting high-quality card stock, anti-counterfeiting holograms and a then-unheard-of $1.00 per pack price tag, the set ushered in a new era for baseball cards and the rest of the hobby. 1989 Upper Deck Baseball Set Details:The 800-card 1989 Upper Deck Baseball set has two series. Low Number Series includes the first 700 cards. High Number Series covers the final 100 cards, which were released later in the season. However, High Series packs have cards from both sets. The Star Rookies subset kicks off the landmark set with 26 cards. Among them is the iconic Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card. Other notable Star Rookies options include Randy Johnson, John Smoltz and Gary Sheffield. The Sheffield card has two versions. An error variation has SS upside-down on the front. Sheffield isn't the only error in the set. The most notable is card 357, Dale Murphy. His reverse negative card is one of the most popular and valuable errors of the era. Thick white borders hold together the 1989 Upper Deck Baseball design. The right side of the card mimics the first baseline. This theme was continued with the borders for a couple more years to show progression around the field and add continuity between sets. One of the major upgrades this set brought to the hobby was the crisp photography. No previous set went to such great lengths to ensure that strong photographs were used throughout a checklist. Card backs feature a second full-color photo to compliment the stats box.
