An original silk-screen, it was created for the 1986 Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland which ran from July 3rd to the 19th. Andy Warhol (August 6, 1928 - February 22, 1987) was an American artist who was a leading figure of the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture and advertisement that flourished by the 1960s. Warhol's artwork ranged in many forms of media including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, film, and music. From 1962 onwards, Warhol's paintings were made almost exclusively by screen-printing photographic images on coloured backgrounds. These works were executed with the help of assistants in the studio that he called The Factory.Keith Haring (May 4, 1958 - February 16, 1990) was an artist and social activist whose work responded to the New York City street culture of the 1980s. Haring achieved his first public attention with chalk drawings in the subways of New York: these were his first recognized pieces of pop art. His bold lines, vivid colours, and active figures carry strong messages of life and unity. Between 1980 and 1989, Haring achieved international recognition and participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. Haring was committed to his desire to make his artwork available to as wide an audience as possible, and received strong support for his project from friends, fans and mentors including Andy Warhol.
