Description: In 1982 all of the US Mints transitioned from the 95% copper coin weighing 3.1 grams to the 2,5-gram zinc coin with the exception of the San Fransisco Proof. However, a handful of copper coins were struck in 1982 most likely from left over copper planchets from 1981 This coin is one of those copper examples and also sports the rare and desirable "Small Date" variation. Miss Struck "D"?As for the suspected Denver Mint Mark and if it is proven to be such, the coin could be another example of the extremely rare "Discovery Coin"found in 2016 and sold for $18,800.00 in 2017! My magnification is not powerful enough to conclusively attribute it correctly.Accordingly, I have priced the coin for that of a rare "small date 3.1 gram" transitional example with no D mint mark variation only. Displays "PMD" markings obverse and reverse. See my six additional examples of the "Small Date" "Transitional" 3.1-gram variations currently up for sale at this time.
