Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE SLT Vintage Presents 1938 Harmony Cremona VN 1300, Pre-war Watch it! youtu.be/TRKojmtaQOo Visit The Chronologue entry on this model for detailed specifications. sltvintage.com/thechronologue/1938-harmony-cremona-vn-1300/ As you can hear in the video demo, this Cremona has an amazing voice, dynamics and projection with perfect intonation, even with an uncompensated bridge. This is a pre-war Harmony meaning metal was reserved for the military. Due to this, mostly wood parts are used instead of metal, with a wood tailpiece, wood one-piece bridge and brass frets. The tuners are Waverly factory stock. Acquired circa 2003, this Cremona came from a mid-west professional luthier. Aside from two recording sessions, has been stored in a temperature/humidity-controlled vault. He did an incredible job repairing cracks and gave the body a sweet French polish. The entire guitar is solid, tapping on the body front and back shows zero rattle and superb resonance. Coming in at a mere 4 lbs. it is feather light, but don’t let the weight fool you, the dynamics are wide. Action is currently sitting at 1/6th 1st fret to 3/16th 12th. The real mother of pearl large block inlaid neck angle is decent but not perfect, and the neck is straight. Very little wear on the fingerboard overall. As you can see in the video, Eric Susoeff has no problems bopping about the registers. Being a protégé of Joe Negri, Eric’s main axe is a handmade Benedetto archtop. However, he was blown away with how great this Cremona sounds, which I have recorded. Although the one-piece bridge provides the Cremona with incredible sustain, unless you are a pro like Eric, a lower bridge is recommended for fretting in the upper positions. The VN 1300 sports one of Harmony’s most decorative pegheads, featuring a heavy-duty tortoise-shell face carved with Harmony branding and a unique vine-leaf design. Other gorgeous appointments include a carved spruce top, curly maple sides and back and a steel reinforced flamed neck with rounded heavy-duty tortoise-shell celluloid binding around all of it. Some of the binding has given way due to age. Obvious bumps and dings throughout but nothing major. There are no defects that the photos do not show. Ships inside a vintage blue felt perfect fit HSC with one non-working latch. Adjustments and setups are not performed. Bridge is removed for shipment. A knowledgeable setup may be required.
