Description: 1937 Charles Smith Woodcut Print The University of Virginia - North Front Rotundra This vintage print by Charles Smith was carefully removed from a book published in 1937. It showcases his unique style with scenes from The University of Virginia as the subject. The woodcut printing technique was used to produce this piece. It measures 7.25 by 10.25 inches and is in very good condition. The reverse side is blank. Smith developed his abstract technique in the 1930's of block painting at Bennington College in Vermont. He taught at the University of Virginia from 1947 to 1963. He was born in 1893 and died in 1987. The print is a great representation of Smith's abstract style and would look superb matted and framed.
