Description: More than happy to message additional photos. 24 photos aren’t enough to do this piece justice. Excellent condition 1882 “crazy quilt”patchwork coverlet, 68” x 54” including crocheted trim. Black velvet border and reverse facing. Given age, the backing material is likely a heavy woven silk, not synthetic. Fabric and thread are vivid, clean and colorful. I see no signs of fading or discoloration. Condition is excellent. No stains on top. Small collection of 5 shattered areas (see photos). One stain on back (see photo). Trim is darkened from age but not discolored or blotched. I have not examined every square inch of the trim, but generally it appears intact. And not smelly!!! (Seller dislikes smelly textiles!) From estate of long time antique dealer in Springfield Massachusetts area. She took such good care of her things. This is a lovely Victorian hand-sewn and dated piece of Americana.
