Newspaper advertisements announced that the idea and the medals were very successful. Each of those entitled to them wanted or would like to have, among their most expensive trinkets, “their presence token” in bronze or silver, and which must naturally bear the name of its owner”. It would also seem that this type of token was reserved for anyone who remained in Paris during the siege.
