Description: See photos - below is my written description as an amateur numismatist of 20+ years With 1.6 million coins made this year in New Orleans, it is a common issue for that branch mint. However, PCGS estimates only several hundred mint state coins exist, making it a sleeper in my opinion for this grade (many seated half dimes indeed appear to be good values in the current market) This coin has excellent eye appeal, with concentric toning ranging from magenta to deep blue. The strike is above average, especially for a New Orleans struck coin. One obvious detractor is that it resides in an ICG holder, perhaps limiting some collector interest, but for those looking at the coin rather than the plastic it is an excellent example. I see ICG holders with coins ranging from over to under graded, but in my opinion this is very accurately assessed by them. It should easily cross to NGC or PCGS if desired but I elected not to due to the grading fees. I feel it is a nice coin regardless of the holder. The obverse toning is a bit less attractive than the reverse, with some lesser toned areas on the devices appearing a bit mottled at different angles of light. While there are the small bag marks corresponding with an MS62 coin, the only noticeable mark without magnification is on the reverse at top portion of wreath above the LF in “HALF”
