Description: 1827 Sir Walter Scott, Parker's "Great Men" Series, Bronze Medal, BHM 1312 A beautiful example of this medal issued by Samuel Parker as part of his "Great Men" series with a diameter of 62mm. Engraved by A J Stothard, the portrait on the obverse is taken from the bust by Chantrey at Abbotsford. Chantrey considered this work to be his finest bust. Listed in Brown, British Historical Medals as BHM 1312. Presented in a contemporary frame. I would grade this medal Good Extremely Fine (Sheldon MS62) but I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
